Welcome to our Philanthropy Page!

Whether helping our national philanthropy (Make-A-Wish Foundation), the University community, or the local community, Chi Omegas make a difference. Each year, The University of Texas Chi Omegas commit to both fundraising and volunteering to help make a difference in the lives of others. Through this, sisters can understand the importance of service to others as a founding principle of our Sisterhood.

Chi Omega's
Commitment to
Make-a-Wish
Nationally, Chi Omega focuses a majority of their philanthropic efforts towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Make-A-Wish Foundation was established to grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Make-A-Wish is the largest wish-granting organization in the world, with the most common wish being a trip to Disney World.

Here at The University of Texas, we too contribute most of our philanthropic efforts to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Our largest fundraising event, the Make-A-Wish Extravaganza, is held every fall raising $32,000 in 2010. This exciting accomplishment allows our chapter to grant six deserving wishes to children in our area. Our next annual Make-A-Wish Extravaganza will be held in the Fall of 2011. If you would like to contribute to the Make-A-Wish Extravaganza, please contact Anna Hoover or Paige Benton, our Make-A-Wish Directors, at ahoover13@mail.utexas.edu and apbbenton91@flash.net. With your help, we can make the Make-A-Wish Extravaganza more successful than ever before!

In addition to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Chi Omegas at The University of Texas participate in other University events such as Dance Marathon, Phi Psi Field Day, Cowboy’s Spring BBQ benefiting ARC and Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s Cooking for Kids. Locally, Texas Chi Omegas support Tie Dye For Tomorrow, Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure, Highland Park Elementary HOOT and Sorority Girl For A Day through Hill Country Middle School.

Make-A-Wish Extravaganza

In November 2010, the Iota Chapter hosted the annual Parent’s Weekend Silent Auction benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and South Texas. The silent auction was held on the starlight terrace of The Oasis and was attended by over 550 actives, parents, and alumni. Funds were raised with ticket sales, the auctioning of 207 items, and the acquisition of 9 corporate sponsorships. In total, our chapter donated over $32,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, granting 6 wishes of children in critical condition. This March, we will hold our second annual fundraiser, known as the Chi O Lu Owl. This is a BBQ that also benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation that will include dinner, dancing, and fun. The Iota Chapter of Chi Omega is very proud of its alliance with Make-A-Wish and holds a close relationship with the branch in our area, providing them with fundraisers, interns, and other philanthropic efforts.

Kickin' with Chi-O: 2013

Last year during round up, Chi-O hosted a philanthropy event (Kickin' with Chi-O) in support of Make-a-Wish. Held in the backyard of the Chi-O house, the event not only featured face painting and tons of food, but Bevo himself! The event was so successful we are planning on hosting it again this coming March and are currently looking into other philanthropic events such as "Queso with Chi-O".
